Learn to row…

Learn To Row (LTR) is a great way to get out and about, learn a new skill, meet some new people and get involved in a local not-for-profit community group.

LTR is suitable for anyone aged 12 and over — our only safety requirement is that you are able to swim at least 100m fully clothed.

We run several learn to row programs each year. Each course runs for 5 weeks and will teach you the basics of rowing. It will give you practical experience in both crew boats and single sculls — aiming to have some fun along the way!

We also run learn to row programs for schools and other groups — if you are interested please contact us so we can tailor a program to meet your needs.

For any learn to row inquiries or to book a space, head to our contact page to drop us an email.

To note: Learn to row courses are held on Sundays, 9:30am–Midday.

Please send an email to [email protected] to find out the start date for you.

I've enrolled in Learn to Row: what do I need to know?

  • 1If you have enrolled to attend a Learn To Row (LTR) course, please arrive at least 15 minutes before the first lesson starts. This enables us to process forms and payments and still start on time.
  • 2Make sure you bring a copy of the enrollment form filled in and your course payment. Electronic payment is possible and we will liaise with you directly about this once you register.
  • 3Please make sure you know where the club is. The entrance to Penrith Rowing Club is directly next to the Naval Association Building — check us out on Google Maps.
  • 4When you come to LTR please wear comfortable, form fitting sports gear. Loose clothing can become caught in boat equipment and fingers whilst rowing. Make sure you wear or bring socks.
  • 5It isn't uncommon to get wet — please bring a towel and a change of clothes (your socks will definitely get wet too!)
  • 6Be sun smart. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential.
  • 7Pack a couple of muesli bars and plenty of water. A water bottle can be taken with you out on the river.
